National Treasure VFX Breakdown with Sam Claitor, Kolby Kember, and Kevin Conlon

Okay, we don’t wanna falsely advertise: there wasn’t any Christmas headbanging in the National Treasure: Edge of History VFX breakdown. But thank you, August Burns Red, for the inspiration.

The breakdown that happened on Twitch last week didn’t happen in drop C tuning, but included the Baton Rouge Crafty Apes Head of Studio Sam Claitor, VFX Supervisor Kolby Kember, and Compositor Kevin Conlon as they talked about their experiences conjuring digital wizardry for the National Treasure: Edge of History series on Disney+.

The discussion centered around the Edge of History highlights reel and some of the intricate set extension work that was done to transform the Celtic Media Centre facilities in Baton Rouge to a Mexican border crossing and The Alamo. Kevin, Kolby, and Sam also explored personal preferences for technique and what helped them create the best shots for the show.

Watch the full conversation below. Watching the conversation subtitled as you listen to Christmas metalcore is also acceptable.
